Walking Stones: A Celtic Sojourn
Ken Kolodner ~ Hammered Dulcimer
While
this recording was originally conceived as a solo project, it was obvious
to all during the recording session that a new musical partnership
with Laura Risk had formed. While the recording prominently features
the hammered dulcimer, Ken discovered that Laura's soulful fiddling,
phrasing and her interest in accompaniment was a perfect match for
Ken's musical sensibility. The result was a beautifully recorded CD
that has sold nearly 50,000 copies, becoming an Allegro and BMG best
seller for 1998. One of the highlights of the recording is Ken's composition "Caspian
Lake" which now has been recorded by four other hammered dulcimer
players. Two warnings: you will notice that this recording is very
quiet in places and that each tune is tracked separately (which means
you cannot put this CD on random play!!) (63:49 minutes)
