Jody Marshall’s Group Classes to Begin Sept. 21
Group classes are a low-pressure and inexpensive way to get started on the hammered dulcimer, or to keep your hammers nimble if you’ve been playing for a while. Jody Marshall’s long-standing group classes, for both beginners and intermediate players, will begin on Monday, Sept. 21 and run for seven weeks at the Friendship United Methodist Church in Falls Church, VA. The beginner class is from 7:15 to 8:15 pm, and the intermediate class is from 8:45 to 9:45 pm. Rentals are available for new beginners with advance notice. “We’ll learn the basics, learn some tunes, and most of all have fun,” says Jody of the beginner class. “And intermediate players will expand their repertoire plus work on backup. I might through in a few duets; you never know!”
Classes for Appalachian dulcimer and guitar (taught by Keith Young, Mary Briggs, Neal Walters, and others) are also available. For more info and to sign up for a class, log onto and click on the “Learn how to play a dulcimer” link. Or contact Jody at jody@jodymarshall.net.
